Meal Plan Printable
Do you ever feel overwhelmed at meal times? I used to feel super prepared just planning dinner, but I found having options listed for Breakfast and Lunch helped the flow of our day so much.
I have a house full of picky eaters.
Sometimes being the Mom would doesn’t force her kids to eat what’s on the menu makes me feel like I’m winning. Other days it makes me feel like I’m cooking five different meals three times a day. Suddenly “winning” goes out the window and “losing it” pops in for a visit. I can’t tell you the number of times I have said, “I wish you’d just eat what I cooked!”
Annnnnnd then the mom guilt kicks in and I feel like I’m getting angry at everyone else when I only have myself to blame. Now, with this Meal Plan, I list options for Breakfast and Lunch that the kids can pick from, and then I put Dinner as set in stone. Well… maybe set in wet cement, since I tend to offer scrambled eggs as an alternative if they absolutely don’t like what’s for dinner.
Keep it Simple
Don’t overthink your choices. If you are only offering Mac & Cheese or Sandwiches for lunch options every day of the week, it’s really OK. I just try to make sure I have options that all the kids like so they don’t feel that anxiety of eating foods they don’t like.
Don’t overdo it for yourself. Sometimes I’m feeling ambitious and I’ll fill in all my options on Sunday, and by the following Tuesday I’ll wonder what the heck was I thinking. Always have a simple option so if you aren’t up to making those homemade breakfast sandwiches you promised everyone, there’s something to fall back on!
Have fun with it! This is supposed to be a helper, not a stresser. If you find yourself dreading mealtimes more because you’re trying to plan ahead of time, then toss it out! Some people work wonderfully going with the flow and coming up with those meals last minute.
